Thailand has launched its first digital free trade hub in partnership with Alibaba to facilitate cross-border e-commerce between Thailand and China. The hub is located in the Eastern Economic Corridor and features bonded warehouses, automated processes, and expedited customs procedures to reduce the time needed for Thai consumers to receive orders from China from 10 days to three. The hub is part of Thailand’s efforts to become a key logistics center for trade and e-commerce, and is part of Alibaba’s Electronic World Trade Platform initiative. The hub is expected to benefit both Thai and Chinese exporters, and may also help Thailand digitize its customs and logistics processes.
