BANGKOK (NNT) – Following the launch of the second phase of the government’s half-half co-payment campaign on December 16th, 2020, the Ministry of Finance has sent a message via SMS to confirm the eligibility of qualified registrants. They are required to confirm their identities and spend via the Pao Tang mobile application by January 14th, 2021.
There are three ways for qualified registrants to confirm their identities. They can declare themselves via the Pao Tang app, visit any Krungthai Bank branch nationwide, or bring their identification (ID) cards to Krungthai Bank automated teller machines (ATMs) and use the identity verification system. They can use Google Maps to locate them. After verification, they will receive a subsidy of 3,500 baht, and they can make general purchases at up to 150 baht per day from January 1st to March 31st next year.
The Inspector General of the Ministry of Finance, Dr. Kulaya Tantitemit, as acting Director of the Fiscal Policy Office (FPO) and Spokeswoman for the Ministry of Finance, said about 75 percent of the applicants had confirmed their identities. Those who have yet to verify have to do so and spend via the Pao Tang app by January 14th. Otherwise, their eligibility will be revoked automatically.
Users of the first-phase co-pay scheme will also be able to use the privileges until March 31st. They can receive an extra 500 baht of subsidy allowance by accepting the terms and conditions in the Pao Tang app before the end of March.
At present, the co-pay scheme has been joined by 1.1 million vendors, with 9.5 million applicants having used the privileges, and more than 49 billion baht spent in this campaign. Vendors can still register for the campaign.
