BANGKOK (NNT) – Thailand’s Industry Ministry reported on Monday that Thailand’s manufacturing production index (MPI) in May rose for a third straight month, climbing 25.84% from a year earlier, lifted by higher production of automobiles, air conditioners and electronics.
This compares with a forecast rise of 19.55% in a Reuters poll and April’s revised 17.97% increase.
Meanwhile, the Bank of Thailand (BoT) expects Thailand’s economy to return to pre-pandemic levels in the first quarter of 2023, as tourism has been slow to recover.
BoT deputy governor Mathee Supapongse told a seminar on tourism that the central bank will closely monitor the situation and is ready to implement measures as necessary.
