BANGKOK (NNT) – Thailand has brought back its 30-day visa exemption policy for visitors from approximately 60 countries, effective April 1, 2023. This marks a reversal of the previous rule which allowed visitors from these countries to stay up to 45 days without a prior visa.
Visitors from countries such as mainland Europe, the UK, the US, Australia, and Saudi Arabia will now only be granted a 30-day stay in Thailand if they choose to enter without a prior visa.
Despite the new regulation, visa-exempt visitors can still extend their stay once for an extra 30 days at immigration, allowing them to tour the country for a total of 60 days. Alternatively, they can also obtain a 30-day extension by briefly exiting and re-entering, with the exception that land border crossings can only occur twice per calendar year.
