No inmate visits at Bangkok Remand Prison the day Thaksin returns

Visits to Bangkok Remand Prison are prohibited on the day Thaksin returns; inmates will not be able to receive visitors.

Bangkok Remand Prison is suspending inmate visitations tomorrow due to security concerns, as fugitive former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra is scheduled to return to Thailand. Thaksin’s supporters are expected to gather in front of the jail. Normally, the prison allows visits from Monday to Friday, but this will not be the case tomorrow. Thaksin has announced that he will end his self-imposed exile and return to Thailand at 9am tomorrow morning. His private jet is set to land at Don Muang airport, where he will be formally arrested and taken to court before being transferred to Bangkok Remand Prison. Thaksin potentially faces 10 years in prison on three convictions. However, many political observers doubt that he will actually arrive tomorrow.
