Expected next year are free trade agreements with the European Union, United Arab Emirates, and Sri Lanka.
Thailand is set to finalize free trade agreements (FTAs) with the European Free Trade Association (EFTA), Sri Lanka, and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) in the second and third quarters of next year. These FTAs are expected to boost trade volume between Thailand and the three export markets by approximately $31 billion annually. The FTA with the UAE is likely to be concluded before the end of this year, as the country is an ideal distribution hub for Thai products in the Middle East. The FTA with Sri Lanka, strategically located on a major shipping route, will benefit Thai investments in processed food, textiles, and jewelry. An FTA with the EFTA is anticipated to be finalized in the middle of next year, offering opportunities for Thai products and service businesses.
