China has surpassed Germany in industrial robot usage, with 470 robots per 10,000 workers, while Germany has 429, highlighting increased competition and challenges for Europe’s largest economy.
China has surpassed Germany in industrial robot usage, according to the latest report from the International Federation of Robotics (IFR). This shift highlights the increasing challenges for Germany, Europe’s largest economy, as it faces intensified competition from China.
South Korea leads in robot density, boasting 1,012 robots per 10,000 workers, marking a 5% increase since 2018. Following South Korea are Singapore and China, which has dramatically increased its density to 470 robots per 10,000 workers, more than double its 2019 figures.
Germany’s robot density stands at 429 per 10,000 employees, with a consistent growth rate of 5% since 2018. However, mounting competition may hinder Germany’s economy, which is anticipated to contract for the second consecutive year in 2024, positioning it as the weakest performer among the Group of Seven nations.
