The Thai government has announced the final phase timeline of its 2024 economic stimulus program, which includes a significant 10,000-baht digital wallet fund. This initiative aims to provide financial assistance to citizens, stimulate economic growth, and tackle inequality. The program will be implemented in phases to address the diverse needs of different demographic groups.

Details of Implementation Phases

Ex-Prime Minister Thaksin Shinawatra presented the program’s specifics in Chiang Rai. The second phase, designed for seniors, coincides with Chinese New Year 2025. The third phase, targeting individuals under 60, is set to launch in March. The success of this initiative relies on the completion of the necessary technological infrastructure by the launch date.

Eligibility Criteria

To qualify for Phase 3, applicants must be Thai nationals aged 16 or older as of September 15 of the previous year, with an income below 840,000 baht for the 2023 tax year and bank deposits not exceeding 500,000 baht as of March 31. Those currently imprisoned or disqualified from other state programs are excluded. This initiative reflects the government’s commitment to enhancing financial inclusion for its citizens.
