Thailand’s Prime Minister is committed to making the country a regional economic hub through campaigns promoting employment and financial support. The government is also focused on improving healthcare services and maintaining fiscal discipline.
Thailand as a Regional Economic Hub
The Prime Minister of Thailand, Srettha Thavisin, is dedicated to transforming the country into a regional economic hub despite global challenges. During the Bangkok Post Forum 2023, he outlined his vision to make Thailand a regional economic powerhouse and bridge the income gap by 2027. To achieve this, the government has launched various campaigns, including employment promotion, financial support, and assistance programs for vulnerable populations.
Digital Wallet Campaign and Foreign Investments
One of the key campaigns of the Srettha administration is the Digital Wallet campaign. It offers a 10,000 baht digital allowance to Thai citizens, aiming to establish a solid foundation for digital finance using blockchain technology. Additionally, the government plans to actively promote and facilitate foreign investments, particularly in high-skilled and high-tech industries. Although concerns have been raised regarding fiscal discipline, the Prime Minister reassured that maintaining fiscal discipline is a priority to boost foreign investors’ confidence in the country.
Improving Healthcare Services
Besides the focus on the economy, the Prime Minister emphasized the significance of healthcare. Thailand has been offering a universal healthcare program since 2002, and the government plans to further invest in enhancing health services. With substantial reserves and a positive credit rating from Moody’s, the Prime Minister is confident in Thailand’s robust economic growth. He believes that the country’s abundant resources and skilled workforce will contribute to its overall success, and the government is determined to do everything necessary to ensure a bright future for Thailand.
