Ethnic villagers travel long distances to register for digital wallet scheme
Ethnic people from the mountainous areas of Omkoi district in Chiang Mai spent approximately five hours travelling to register for the digital wallet scheme at the Government Savings Bank in the city. Nalor Biapapand, a Muser villager from Mon Chong in Chiang Mai, mentioned the challenges of the 16km journey through difficult terrain from Doi Muser, with an anticipated return home by around 10:00pm.
Elderly and illiterate villagers seek assistance for digital wallet registration
Nalor Biapapand highlighted that many villagers had to travel to the city for registration as they are illiterate. Additionally, elderly people in the mountains require help with the process. Nakor Samritrakphana, another Muser villager, explained the challenges of the journey and shared plans to use the funds for essentials like milk for their children. The registration period for the scheme runs from August 1st to September 15th, 2024, via the Thang Rath app.
