BANGKOK, 27 June 2019 (NNT) – Many students have competed in a recent video contest to limit the use of plastic bags, and raise public awareness and participation in the need for garbage sorting.
This is a video clip from the Phrachan Yim (SmilingMoon) team from Satree Manda Pitak School in Chantaburi, which has won the winner’s title in the Public Relations Department’s anti-plastic bag video contest. The video conveys the story of a plastic bag, taking only 5 seconds to be made, and being used for just 5 minutes, but taking 500 years to decompose and having environmental effects along the way. The team received a certificate and a 20,000 baht prize from the Public Relations Department’s Deputy Director General Tassanee Pholchaniko.
Meanwhile, the N.M.M. Films team from Navamindarajudis Matchim School in Nakhon Sawan won the first runner-up title, receiving a certificate and a 15,000 baht prize; while the JIGA team from Pathum Thani has won the second runner-up title, receiving a certificate and 10,000 baht in prize money.
The contest was held by the Public Relations Department to raise public awareness and encourage participation in waste management and environmental issues. Winning video clips will be broadcasted on the department’s various media channels, helping campaign for a reduction in waste and encouraging a garbage sorting practice.
