CGTN: Role of youth highly anticipated in promoting China-Vietnam friendship

0

BEIJING, Dec. 14, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The people are the root, the lifeline and the source of strength of China-Vietnam relations, Xi Jinping, general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and Chinese president said in a signed article published on Tuesday by the Nhan Dan Newspaper of Vietnam.

On Wednesday, Xi and Nguyen Phu Trong, general secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee, met with representatives of youngsters from both countries and people who have contributed to China-Vietnam friendship in Hanoi.

Both leaders stressed that the foundation of China-Vietnam friendship lies among the two peoples, and the future of this friendship will be created by the young people.

Strengthening youth exchanges

In Xi’s article, he called for deepening cooperation in Chinese language education, vocational education, sports and health, ensuring the success of flagship events including the China-Vietnam People’s Forum and the China-Vietnam Youth Friendship Meeting with a view to increasing mutual understanding and affinity between our peoples, especially the younger generation.

"We should enhance friendly cooperation and exchanges, and make full use of counterpart exchange mechanisms such as central media outlets, think tanks, cultural and tourism departments, publishers, as well as radio, film and television institutions," he added.

Hanoi University in Vietnam witnessed youth exchanges between the two sides. Nearly 400 young people from China and Vietnam gathered to sing classic film and television songs that are well-known to both sides during a singing event held in November.

The university also built a bookstore jointly with a Chinese publishing company, offering a space for local students to learn more about Chinese culture.

Xi has always had high expectations for young people, and has repeatedly encouraged them to pursue their dreams and shoulder responsibilities. On Wednesday, the Chinese leader also expressed hope that young people will take the lead in promoting China-Vietnam friendship.

Promoting traditional friendship

China has long been the largest trading partner of Vietnam, while Vietnam is China’s fourth largest trading partner in the world.

With the launch of China-Vietnam cross-border freight train service and the smart port program, the two countries’ land border ports have become rapidly interconnected. Large quantities of quality Vietnamese agricultural products, including lychee, durian and dragon fruit, are exported to China.

Close to 20 million trips have been made on the Cat Linh-Ha Dong metro line built by a Chinese company, which has provided a convenient and comfortable means of travels for Hanoi residents.

Setting high expectations on Chinese and Vietnamese young people, Xi said young people of both countries should play their part in building a China-Vietnam community with a shared future that carries strategic significance.

He also urged young people from both sides to play their part in promoting the development of the Asia Pacific and contribute to enduring peace in the region.

"l hope that you will be pioneers in promoting human progress and contribute to the building of a community with a shared future for mankind," Xi told the youth representatives.

Epicor Study Reveals the Evolving Role of the CFO in Driving Digital Modernization

Epicor Study Reveals the Evolving Role of the CFO in Driving Digital Modernization

IMG { cursor: pointer } HONG KONG SAR – Media OutReach Newswire – 14 December 2023 – Epicor, a global leader of industry-specific enterprise software designed to promote business growth, today shared findings from “The Evolving Role of the CFO in 2023,” an IDC InfoBrief sponsored by Epicor. The study revealed more than 80 percent of manufacturing and distribution organizations surveyed agreed that today’s economic uncertainty has “significantly” elevated the importance of the CFO in driving strategy and technology optimization initiatives. Financial performance and growth were cited as the top IT investment drivers in the current economic climate.

“The back office is not the back office anymore, with CFOs and their finance organizations increasingly playing a more vital role in driving IT investment to compete and grow,” said Marco de Vries, Epicor Vice President of Product Marketing. “It’s all about transforming the speed and efficiency in decision-making across the business, which is critically important for supply chain industries that have faced continual disruption and economic pressures to adapt and thrive.”

With a heightened focus on data management to drive enterprise agility and real-time decision-making, CFOs are looking for ways to modernize the tools the finance and accounting departments rely on to improve efficiency and business performance.

Foundationally, that includes increased investments in cloud technologies, with half of organizations surveyed planning to move to the cloud in the next one to two years to strengthen data accessibility, reduce organizational silos, and improve security. Top use cases identified for optimization include financial planning and analysis (FP&A), cash management, and accounts payable automation. Manufacturers indicated they are more focused on period-end closing; distributors more on inventory management.

In addition, 42 percent of respondents agreed that Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning capabilities will have the greatest impact in their organizations over the next five years by finding patterns, turning data into actionable insights, and enabling automation across business and production processes.

Respondents also indicated that growing talent gaps are impacting all parts of their business, with one third saying the need to address labor issues is their top overall business objective. Lack of knowledge is the biggest reason for finance and accounting talent issues – finding ways to capture, manage, and share expertise across the organization will be critical.

Through the company’s leading Industry ERP Cloud portfolio grounded in contextual business intelligence, Epicor helps organizations adopt a data-first strategy that lets them integrate internal and external data sources and interpret signals and indicators both within their business and across supply chains. In doing so, Epicor customers can gain actionable insights to optimize and automate business flows and drive time-to-value.

Visit our website for a complimentary copy of the study, and to view an on-demand webinar detailing the findings.

Survey Methodology

To highlight the strategic priorities of successful financial departments, Epicor commissioned IDC in early 2023 to conduct a study of more than 200 manufacturing and distribution organizations with revenues between $100 million and $1 billion. Respondents were director-level and above, in finance or accounting roles, as well as the primary decision makers for digital transformation (DX) or part of a DX team making decisions associated with enterprise IT systems such as enterprise resource planning (ERP). Surveyed companies were in North America, UK, and Australia.

Abbisko Therapeutics Announces that U.S. FDA Has Granted Fast Track Designation for Its CSF-1R Inhibitor Pimicotinib (ABSK021)

0

SHANGHAI, Dec. 14, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Abbisko Therapeutics Co., Ltd. ("Abbisko Therapeutics") today announced that its CSF-1R inhibitor pimicotinib (ABSK021) has been granted the fast track designation ("FTD") by the U.S. FDA for the treatment of tenosynovial giant cell tumor ("TGCT") patients that are not amenable to surgery. Previously, pimicotinib was granted the breakthrough therapy designation ("BTD") by the U.S. FDA for TGCT in January, 2023. The grant of FTD and BTD will accelerate the global development and commercialization of pimicotinib.

Fast Track is a policy designed to facilitate the development and expedite the review of drugs in order to treat serious conditions and fulfill unmet medical needs. Its purpose is to get important new drugs to patients earlier. Moreover, the FTD enables companies to maintain more frequent communications and meetings with the U.S. FDA. The drug also becomes eligible for accelerated approval and priority review by the U.S. FDA.

In early December, Abbisko entered into an agreement with Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany that grants it the exclusive license to commercialize pimicotinib for all indications in China mainland, Hong Kong, Macau, and Taiwan. Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany also obtained an exclusive option for global commercial rights of pimicotinib, subject to the terms and conditions as agreed between the parties. Pursuant to the terms of the License Agreement, Abbisko will receive a one-time, non-refundable down payment of US$ 70 million. In the event that Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany exercises the global commercialization option, Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany will pay Abbisko an additional option exercising fee. The aggregate amounts of upfront payment, option exercising payment, and payment for development and commercialization milestones will total US$ 605.5 million. Abbisko will also obtain from Merck KGaA, Darmstadt, Germany double-digit percentage (%) royalties based on actual annual net sales.

Pimicotinib is a novel, orally available, highly selective, and potent small molecule CSF-1R inhibitor, independently developed by Abbisko Therapeutics. It has been granted the BTD and Priority Medicine (PRIME) designation by China NMPA, U.S. FDA, and EMA for the treatment of TGCT patients that are not amenable to surgery. The study is the first global Phase III clinical trial of TGCT conducted simultaneously in China, the U.S., Canada and Europe.

Upon 1-year follow-up in a Phase 1b trial for TGCT, pimicotinib demonstrated an ORR of 87.5% (28/32, including 3 CR) in the 50 mg QD cohort, which was presented at the 2023 CTOS. A Phase I dose-escalation trial for pimicotinib has been completed in the U.S. previously.

In addition to TGCT, Abbisko is actively exploring the potential of pimicotinib in treating other indications including many types of solid tumors in clinic, and it has obtained approval from NMPA to conduct a Phase II clinical study in chronic graft-versus-host disease and advanced pancreatic cancer. Up until today, no highly selective CSF-1R inhibitors have been approved in China.

About TGCT

TGCT is a locally aggressive neoplasm that usually affects synovial joints, mucous sacs, and tendon membranes, resulting in swelling, pain, stiffness, and decreased activity of the affected joints, which seriously affects the patient’s quality of life [1]. According to the 2013 World Health Organization classification, TGCTs were classified as localized TGCT and diffuse TGCT. Diffuse TGCT encompasses formerly known nodular tenosynovitis and pigmented villonodular synovitis ("PVNS"). Overexpression of CSF-1 occurs in most TGCTs. Surgical resection is the standard treatment for TGCT. However, not all patients are suitable for surgical treatment. It is difficult to remove tumors of diffuse TGCT patients by surgery, which may possibly lead to severe joint damage, total synovectomy, joint replacement, or even amputation, and the risk of surgical complications can be high. It has been reported that more than 50% of patients with diffuse TGCT would undergo recurrence after surgical resection [2]. For TGCT patients who are not amenable to surgery, there is currently no approved drug available in China.
