FLAG measurement on Terrascope

Terrascope becomes one of the first SaaS Platforms with the ability to measure emissions in line with FLAG

SINGAPORE, Dec. 11, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Terrascope, an end-to-end enterprise decarbonisation platform, announced the addition of a new module to its SaaS platform, specifically designed to empower enterprises in land-intensive sectors with the measurement and management of Forest, Land, and Agriculture (FLAG) emissions. This enhancement makes Terrascope one of the first SaaS platforms to incorporate FLAG emission capabilities, offering a robust solution for organisations to achieve more accurate carbon accounting and to advance their sustainability objectives.

FLAG measurement on Terrascope

*Note: Data is representative, not pertaining to any company

The Forest, Land and Agriculture Guidance [FLAG] is the world’s first standard for companies in land-intensive sectors to set science-based targets (SBTs) that include land-based emissions reductions and removals. The SBTi FLAG Guidance impacts a number of sectors in the food and agricultural value chain, such as food & beverage, agriculture, packaged goods, luxury, hospitality, amongst others. The food and agriculture value chain contributes to 34% of global emissions, largely from upstream activities such as deforestation, land use changes, and agricultural practices. The direct dependence on upstream activities to land use emissions underscores the urgency for tools like the FLAG module, in order to enable enterprises to effectively manage their land-based emissions, aligning with science-based targets and the Paris Agreement’s goal of limiting global warming.

Maya Hari, CEO, Terrascope, said, "We are excited to unveil our new FLAG module, to further support enterprises in the food & agriculture value chain on their decarbonisation journey. Food & Agri value chains represent approximately 30% of global emissions, with a majority of these emissions originating upstream, making it essential to have a precise understanding and management of land-related emission sources. Integrating FLAG capabilities into our platform is a pivotal step in enabling large enterprises to identify and act upon these land-related emissions more effectively."

Terrascope’s approach to managing and reducing FLAG emissions includes compliance with SBTi, as well as alignment with the new GHG Protocol for land sector removals. This module enables enterprises in the FLAG sectors to measure land-based emissions from their own operations as well as their supply chain. Enterprises can also measure their decarbonisation initiatives involving carbon sequestration and better land management using the Terrascope’s FLAG Module.

Starting with FLAG screening, Terrascope’s FLAG Module reviews a company’s operational and value chain model to determine their FLAG exposure and the need for SBT FLAG Targets. For companies that need this, a measurement tool covering land use change estimation and land management emissions from farming activities such as fertiliser application, farm activities or livestock rearing is deployed. This includes proprietary capabilities to disaggregate FLAG emissions from third party databases. The emission calculations are consolidated into separate FLAG and Energy inventories, ensuring accuracy and avoiding double counting. The FLAG module then enables enterprises to set SBTI-aligned FLAG targets, and their long- and short-term decarbonisation plans.

For enterprises required to set FLAG SBT targets, the Terrascope FLAG module is an essential asset. It enhances operational efficiency and optimises decarbonisation investments, while simplifying compliance efforts. The module provides a transparent, comprehensive view on a singular platform, uniquely enabling the inclusion of carbon removal strategies in decarbonisation plans.

Nikita Asthana, Global Head & Vice President, Sustainability Finance, Olam Agri, said, "Terrascope has been a key partner and enabler of our decarbonisation journey. Along with the ongoing reduction planning, the timely addition of the FLAG module to the platform is set to further enhance our decarbonisation strategy, and we are looking forward to the precise tools that will streamline our reporting and enable the management of land-related emissions in line with our sustainability goals."

As a decarbonisation platform with a focus on Food & Agriculture companies across the value chain, from growers, to processors, manufacturers, distributors and retailers, FLAG is one of many upcoming product modules that Terrascope is launching to support material emissions reductions. Additional capabilities to calculate emissions from Land Use Change and farming activities such as fertiliser application and livestock rearing, to modelling Commodity Pathways and Land Sector Carbon Removals will be available in subsequent releases.

Following the ion exchange resin, Samyang launched Reverse Osmosis(RO) membrane and Electrodeionizer(EDI) to build all the key materials for ultrapure water production.

Following ion exchange resin, RO membrane, and EDI have been released.
Establishing three key materials for water treatment Becoming a comprehensive solution provider through newly launched products and a new dedicated organization, "Water Solutions PU (Performance Unit)".

SEOUL, South Korea, Dec. 11, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Samyang Corporation, Korea’s first company to develop ion exchange resin and a leader in the field of industrial water treatment materials, has launched two new products and established a dedicated organization to leap forward as a comprehensive water solution company in the global market.

Following the ion exchange resin, Samyang launched Reverse Osmosis(RO) membrane and Electrodeionizer(EDI) to build all the key materials for ultrapure water production.

Samyang Corporation (CEO Kang Ho-Sung) announced that they have released new products with their industrial water treatment brand name, "TRILITE" which are TRILITE RO, Reverse Osmosis, and TRILITE EDI, Electrodeionizer.

These new products are considered key industrial water treatment materials together with ion exchange resin, playing a primary role in removing impurities by high-performance filters and electricity in the production process of ultrapure water(extremely pure water that removes impurities and has close to 0% ion content) for semiconductors, displays, and electronic products. Recently, with the rapidly increasing demand for ultrapure water for semiconductors, the market size for RO membranes and EDI is also growing fast.

The newly launched product, TRILITE RO Membrane has high performance in removing salt and organic matter, high permeability, and excellent durability. It is a product specifically designed for brackish water, which contains less salt than seawater and is specialized in the manufacture of industrial water. TRILITE EDI is a device that continuously produces pure and ultrapure water through electricity. It is an eco-friendly product that does not use chemical materials and does not discharge wastewater. The length of the water flow path is lengthy which provides stable operation as well as outlet water quality despite fluctuations in inlet water conditions.

Samyang Corporation, along with ion exchange resin, has established a core water treatment materials line-up for ultrapure water production by launching its RO membrane and EDI. Samyang Corporation has also added new features to ‘TriAngle’, a self-developed software for designing ion exchange resin systems, including the design systems for RO membranes and EDI.

This provides an optimal combination of designing a water treatment system based on user’s needs and this can also make the company a comprehensive solutions provider.

Samyang Corporation recently established its ‘Water Solutions PU (Performance Unit)’, a dedicated organization in charge of the water treatment business within Samyang’s chemical group and is strategically fostering it at a group level. Starting with the expansion of TRILITE product lines, Samyang plans to strengthen its product portfolio through continuous R&D and to solidify its position in the global semiconductor market including in the US, Europe, Japan, China, and Southeast Asia based on the established global sales network of ion exchange resin.

Cho Young Do, the head of Samyang Corporation’s WS PU said, "The global water treatment market is continuously growing because of the recent deepening of water stress through environmental pollution as well as growing ultrapure water demands by the growth of the semiconductor, display, and electronic industries." He added, "With differentiated technology and a brand, "TRILITE" that can provide comprehensive solutions, Samyang Corporation will become a leading company in the global water treatment market."

Samyang Corporation is leading the domestic industry by developing the country’s first ion exchange resin product in 1976 and creating only Korea’s ion exchange resin brand, TRILITE. In 2014, Samyang Fine Technology, Asia’s largest uniform particle-sized resin factory was built to expand the business into premium-grade resin like power plants, ultrapure, chromatography, and so on. In 2020, by supplying ion exchange resin in nuclear power plants, Samyang Corporation successfully localized premium-grade resin.

Dr Kate Cornick, CEO at LaunchVic, added, "LaunchVic is proud to back Andisor’s mission to revolutionise the wholesale retail sector. It’s exciting to see founders like Vandana, with extensive corporate experience, building tools that redefine the industry."

The funding round saw participation from early-stage venture capital firm Antler, LaunchVic’s Alice Anderson fund, Jam Pad Investments, and several prominent retail operators and leaders. This diverse group of investors reflects the broad appeal and potential of Andisor’s innovative approach to retail.

Paul Greenberg, founder of DealsDirect, a pioneer online retailer, and founder of the NORA Network shares, "The vision of Andisor to forge connections and bolster sustainable growth in the fashion industry, leveraging the power of technology, strikes a chord with us at JamPad Investments. Understanding the hurdles brands face in wholesale expansion, we are thrilled to back Andisor’s seasoned and varied team as they navigate and address these complex challenges."

Andisor stands out as the first platform of its kind, designed to connect enterprise-level buyers and sellers in a dynamic and efficient manner. Vandana Chaudhry, Founder and CEO of Andisor, and former executive at Deliveroo and Crocs, likens the platform to The Iconic but for B2B transactions. "Retail is a high-stakes, fast-paced industry where precision in buying is crucial. Andisor addresses this by offering a lower-risk path for brands to penetrate the market, overcoming the constraints of limited resources and risk appetite," Vandana explains.

Nishan Wijemanne, co-founder of Cohesio Group and Shiperoo, says, "I am supporting Andisor because I love their fresh take on changing the B2B retail scene. With my supply chain and tech experience, I recognise how important it is to blend intuition and analytics for smart buying. Andisor’s platform excels at bringing a clever and thoughtful approach to retail procurement."

The origin of Andisor is rooted in the founder’s extensive experience in global marketplaces. This experience highlighted a universal challenge: the difficulty of forging meaningful B2B relationships. Inspired by the transformative role of data at Deliveroo, Andisor was conceived to empower retailers through data-driven partnerships. "Throughout my career, I’ve seen businesses struggle to build impactful B2B relationships. Andisor is about creating win-win situations, driving success for both buyers and sellers," shares Vandana.

Cath Rogers, Partner at Antler in Australia, comments, "The retail sector, particularly for small and medium businesses, has faced formidable challenges recently. Andisor has astutely responded to this by creating a platform that not only enables brands to boost their revenue from small and independent customers profitably but also offers these retailers a seamless platform to access and purchase from global brands. The depth of Andisor’s industry connections and the magnitude of the opportunity they present is truly exciting for us at Antler as their day zero investors."

Since its inception, Andisor has rapidly gained traction, attracting high-calibre brands and discerning retailers. These power players value Andisor for its ability to enhance decision-making speed and inventory turnover, thanks to its data-centric approach.

The market potential for Andisor is immense. As per McKinsey’s ‘State of Fashion 2023’ report, the global B2B eCommerce market was valued at $14.9 trillion in 2020, significantly larger than the B2C market. With the retail and wholesale market projected to reach $100 trillion by 2025, Andisor is strategically positioned in a sector ripe for innovation.

The recent investment will be strategically used to advance Andisor’s analytics and segmentation tools, providing brands with actionable insights to manage merchandise production and supply with agility. "As an advisor for Andisor, I’ve seen its global appeal," said Nicole Kleid, ex Rampersand VC and Founder of Start Small Ventures. "Andisor’s expansion plans are as bold as the partnerships it fosters, setting a new standard for B2B retail excellence."

Investors are confident in Andisor’s future: "Andisor’s fusion of market intelligence with a streamlined wholesale process is what the industry needs. Their clear vision for the future of retail is why we support them," an investor commented.

With this financial backing, Andisor is poised to redefine the digital wholesale experience for retailers globally, facilitating growth and strategic partnerships in the dynamic world of fashion and consumer brands.

10 December 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of one of the world

Human Rights Day Statement by Education Cannot Wait Executive Director Yasmine Sherif

NEW YORK, Dec. 10, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Today we mark a milestone in history: the 75th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights. As people around the world commemorate Human Rights Day, we must also deeply reflect on the meaning of this historic document and what it takes to achieve peace in the world.

10 December 2023 marks the 75th anniversary of one of the world’s most groundbreaking global pledges: the Universal Declaration of Human Rights (UDHR). This landmark document enshrines the inalienable rights that everyone is entitled to as a human being – regardless of race, colour, religion, sex, language, political or other opinion, national or social origin, property, birth or other status.

The inspiring preamble of the Universal Declaration is not the work of an indifferent or greedy mindset. It was crafted by those able to delve into their hearts and souls to authentically express the imperatives for peaceful co-existence in the world.

Inspired by the East and West, North and South, Eleanor Roosevelt, together with the French jurist, Rene Cassin, were the driving force behind the Universal Declaration for Human Rights, adopted by the United Nations General Assembly in 1948. With the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, and successive legal human rights conventions, one can safely say that these rights were not proclaimed to find consensus around the lowest common denominator. Rather, the Declaration was created to inspire and mold consensus around the highest of human values: the goal was to achieve peace.

The preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights reads: ‘Whereas recognition of the inherent dignity and the equal and inalienable rights of all members of the human family is the foundation of freedom, justice and peace in the world.’ Yet, almost a century later, these universal rights are largely not respected, nor equally applied. As the essence of these values and laws are eroded and ignored, is it any wonder that there are more wars, conflicts and widespread injustices, resulting in more refugees, internal displacement and immense human suffering?

This unspeakable, yet preventable, human suffering comes about because we have departed from our highest of human values through many small and big decisions. These are decisions leading to actions severely undermining the foundation for peaceful co-existence in the world. Haven’t freedom, equality and justice for all members of the human family been compromised or disregarded enough?

The path to peace is not complicated. The answer lies in the preamble to the Universal Declaration of Human Rights and all the rights enshrined in the Declaration.

The right to an inclusive, sustainable quality education is a foundational right. A continued quality education empowers every child and adolescent to claim all other rights. The chance of success is even greater provided that these children and adolescents live in an environment conducive to all other human rights – also for their families, communities and countries.

This is not complicated. It only demands that we take courageous decisions in every role we find ourselves – and deploy meaningful action – to begin materializing the Universal Declaration of Human Rights for all members of the human family.

It would be such a purposeful way of moving forward. It would be a profound legacy to leave behind for the young generation and for generations to come. All we need to do is to act as our conscience dictates. Or, as the co-author of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, Eleanor Roosevelt, rhetorically asked: "When will our conscience grow so tender that we will act to prevent human misery rather than avenge it."

Dizal's Golidocitinib Pivotal Trial Demonstrates Superior and Durable Clinical Benefits for Patients with r/r PTCL in Oral Presentation at 2023 ASH

0

Full analysis of multinational pivotal study results of golidocitinib in relapsed or refractory peripheral T-cell lymphoma (r/r PTCL) (JACKPOT8 PART B) simultaneously published in The Lancet Oncology and presented in oral session at the 65th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting and Exposition (2023 ASH, San Diego). Golidocitinib demonstrated superior and durable clinical benefits in the treatment of r/r PTCL, with a median duration of response (mDoR) of 20.7 months, significantly outperforming existing treatment options.

SHANGHAI, Dec. 10, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Dizal today presented the full analysis of the multinational pivotal study of golidocitinib for r/r PTCL (JACKPOT8 PART B) in an oral presentation at the 65th American Society of Hematology Annual Meeting and Exposition (2023 ASH, San Diego). The results were simultaneously published in the prestigious peer-reviewed journal The Lancet Oncology (Impact Factor: 54.4). This follows the publication of the Phase I clinical data of golidocitinib for the treatment of r/r PTCL (JACKPOT8 PART A) in Annals of Oncology (Impact Factor: 51.8) three months ago.

Golidocitinib is currently the first and only Janus kinase 1 (JAK1) selective inhibitor being evaluated for the treatment of r/r PTCL. A total of 104 patients with r/r PTCL were enrolled in the JACKPOT8 PART B study to evaluate the efficacy and safety of golidocitinib as a monotherapy. At the cut-off date of August 31, 2023, per independent review committee (IRC) assessment, 70% of patients achieved target lesion size reduction, yielding an overall response rate (ORR) of 44.3%, and a complete response rate (CRR) of 23.9%. Tumor responses were observed across various PTCL subtypes. The responses were durable, with the median duration of response (mDoR) of 20.7 months. The median progression-free survival (mPFS) was 5.6 months, and the median overall survival (mOS) was 19.4 months and still ongoing. As a potent JAK1 inhibitor with > 200 to 400-fold selectivity over other JAK family members, golidocitinib demonstrated a favorable safety profile. The most common treatment-related adverse events (TRAEs) were reversible and clinically manageable. These findings highlight the potential of golidocitinib to offer robust and durable clinical benefits for patients with r/r PTCL.

"PTCL is a highly heterogeneous and aggressive non-Hodgkin lymphoma (NHL) with the characteristics of various subtypes, high recurrence rate and poor prognosis. Patients with r/r PTCL have limited treatment options and a poor prognosis with a low survival rate. The efficacy of current treatment modalities varies among different r/r PTCL subtypes." said Jun Zhu, MD, PhD at the Department of Lymphoma, Peking University Cancer Hospital and Institute, the correspondence author of the paper, "The JAK/STAT signaling pathway plays a pivotal role in the pathogenesis and progression of various hematologic malignancies, including T-cell malignancies. Consequently, targeting the JAK/STAT pathway emerges as an innovative and highly promising treatment option for PTCL. Golidocitinib is an oral, potent, JAK1 only inhibitor with superior selectivity and favorable pharmacokinetic properties, offers robust and sustained inhibition of the JAK/STAT pathway while maintaining optimal clinical safety."

"In the JACKPOT8 PART B study, more than 100 patients with r/r PTCL were enrolled. The efficacy analysis of 88 patients revealed an ORR of 44.3%, with 23.9% achieving complete response. Notably, a consistently high ORR was observed across various PTCL subtypes. The median DoR for golidocitinib was 20.7 months, mPFS reached 5.6 months, and mOS was 19.4 months." said Yuqing Song, MD, PhD at the Department of Lympho-Oncology of Peking University Cancer Hospital, the lead author of the paper, "Golidocitinib demonstrates superior ORR and survival results as compared to the current available treatment options and offers hope for improving the poor prognosis of patients with r/r PTCL. These findings present innovative therapeutic possibilities and paves the way towards better patient outcomes."

"It is gratifying to see the increasing recognition of golidocitinib’s potential as a new therapy for patients with PTCL." said Xiaolin Zhang, Ph.D., Chairman and CEO of Dizal, "Patients with r/r PTCL have long been facing limited treatment options and a poor prognosis. Golidocitinib stands as a major achievement resulting from Dizal’s dedicated translational science efforts. Its superior efficacy and safety, as demonstrated through compelling global pivotal trials, bring hope for these underserved patients."

These findings, highlighting the superior efficacy and safety of golidocitinib, have been widely acknowledged at prestigious conferences including ASCO, EHA, ICML, and ASH, with six oral presentations over four consecutive years. In September 2023, the NDA for golidocitinib was accepted by the CDE with Priority Review status for the treatment of r/r PTCL. Dizal continues to expand the scope of clinical research on golidocitinib and explore its application in a broader patient population. At 2023 ASH, Dizal will also announce positive results of golidocitinib as maintenance therapy for patients with PTCL after first-line systemic therapy in a phase 2 study (JACKPOT26).
