interop.io Introduces Desktop Interoperability Maturity Model

0

The first framework to offer a structured approach to implement, measure, and improve interoperability initiatives across capital markets, wealth management, and the broader ecosystem

LONDON, Nov. 28, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — interop.io, the leading interoperability provider for the finance industry, today released its desktop interoperability maturity model. The framework helps capital markets participants, wealth managers, and the broader ecosystem assess and progress desktop interoperability through workflow and UI integration.

For end users, the model defines a clear pathway to optimizing business processes, uncovering data-driven insights, and reducing operational risk to be more effective in their day-to-day roles.

Developers can expect to reduce development, testing, and release times by 50%, as demonstrated by teams following the model.

The roadmap to interop success comes with a lexicon to spark industry debate. It presents firms and the entire ecosystem with an opportunity to impact the successful outcome of digital transformation projects.

Independent research commissioned to validate the model and reset potential bias shows that nearly 70% see interop as a significant element of digital transformation. It also confirmed that while most firms and vendors got the big picture, many still needed clarification on the details of desktop interop and how these concepts could be used to achieve effective digital transformation.

More so, 57% of the same group of respondents agreed that the lack of collaboration was the biggest obstacle to successful interop projects. Other common setbacks include old-school design thinking, insufficient desktop interop vendor evaluation, lack of governance, and the belief that one must modernize its entire technology stack to web before embarking on desktop interop.

"In times of economic uncertainty and shrinking margins, it’s essential for industry participants to optimize their processes and gain the most from their existing and new technology investments – even when they have to cut costs. A successful interop implementation can help achieve exactly that," said Dan Schleifer, president, interop.io.

"With the interoperability maturity model, we want to open the discussion for interop best practices, journey mapping, and evaluation," Schleifer continued. "Along with helping firms realize where in the interop process they are, we also want to help them anticipate the most common setbacks and increase the chance for a timely and successful interoperability project completion."

Practical benefits include better client service, better user experience, and demonstrable ROI from improved efficiency and effectiveness and reduced error rates. And respondents agreed. 41% of leaders in capital markets stated that interop would result in fewer errors due to rekeying and copy/paste. Others noted a 20% improvement in trading performance.

In addition to evaluating their own interop maturity, firms can select the most suitable application provider based on their interop maturity level. Software vendors can better understand their customers’ interop goals, empowering them to make their applications sticky. One vendor calculated that using interop and guided by the maturity model, they will save over ten person-years of development effort as they modernize their technology stack—finally, system integrators can rely on the model for a clear path and milestones for their clients’ digital transformation projects.

As for the future, interop.io sees an industry shift towards building workflows, the ability of desktop interop to bring together different views from different applications in ingenious ways, and the capability to harness artificial intelligence.

"Future generations of industry participants will look at fragmented desktops with puzzlement. They will wonder how firms managed client interactions, mitigated operational risk, and responded to changing business dynamics," said Leslie Spiro, CEO, interop.io. "What does the future of our industry hold if we cannot translate everyday technology experience from our personal lives into the workplace or empower the next generations of employees."

For more details, you can refer to the maturity model ebook.

Safeena Husain recognized as the 2023 Wise Prize for Education Laureate for work with Educate Girls

DOHA, Qatar, Nov. 29, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Her Highness Sheikha Moza bint Nasser, Chairperson of Qatar Foundation, spoke at the opening of the 11th edition of the WISE Summit taking place from 28-29 November in Doha, Qatar, under the theme ‘Creative Fluency: Human Flourishing in the Age of AI’.

Her Highness Sheikha Moza said: "I want to ensure WISE is a platform for new ideas that keep pace with the changes taking place in the world, and the obstacles that education faces in certain countries for reasons of which we are all too aware. There is no alternative but to innovate if we are to find solutions to intractable problems."

During the opening plenary, Her Excellency Sheikha Hind bint Hamad Al Thani, Vice Chairperson and CEO of Qatar Foundation, awarded the prestigious WISE Prize for Education. This is the first global award of its kind that honors an individual for an outstanding contribution to education. Husain was recognized for dedicating 16 years to building the non-profit organization focused on empowering communities for girls’ education in some of India’s hardest to reach villages.

Over the years, Educate Girls has mobilized more than 1.4 million girls for enrolment and supported over 1.9 million children in their learning in India. Thanks to a precision targeting method using AI, Educate Girls is able to target, in 5 years, the same number of out-of-school girls, which would otherwise require 45 years. Through a network of over 21,000 community-based champions in some of the most marginalized communities in the country, the organization has been working to break the intergenerational cycle of inequality and exclusion.

Commenting on the award, Husain said: "This is a collective win for all of us working toward girls’ education, right from the government and local communities to dedicated gender champions and our supporters. It is a testament to the array of initiatives that are actively addressing this global challenge to ensure that every girl, in every village, is in school and learning well.

"Girls’ education is the closest thing we have to a silver bullet to solve some of the world’s most complex problems. We must recognize that the right to education is a girl’s inherent right – a right that must always take center stage."

ICANN Launches Global Service to Simplify Requests for Nonpublic Domain Name Registration Data

0

The RDRS is a One-Stop Shop for Law Enforcement, Cybersecurity Professionals, and More

LOS ANGELES, Nov. 29, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) has launched the Registration Data Request Service (RDRS). The RDRS is a new service that introduces a more consistent and standardized format to handle requests for access to nonpublic registration data related to generic top-level domains (gTLDs). To access the service, click here.

Due to personal data protection laws, many ICANN-accredited registrars are now required to redact personal data from public records, which was previously available in "WHOIS" databases. With no one way to request or access such data, it can be difficult for interested parties to get the information they need. The RDRS helps by providing a simple and standardized process to make these types of requests.

The RDRS can be an important resource for ICANN-accredited registrars and those who have a legitimate interest in nonpublic data like law enforcement, intellectual property professionals, consumer protection advocates, cybersecurity professionals, and government officials.

How it Works
The RDRS is a free, global, one-stop shop ticketing system that handles nonpublic gTLD registration data requests. The RDRS connects requestors of nonpublic data with the relevant ICANN-accredited registrars for gTLD domain names that are participating in the service. The service will streamline and standardize the process for submitting and receiving requests through a single platform.

The service does not guarantee access to requested registration data. All communication and data disclosure between the registrars and requestors takes place outside of the system.

Benefits of the Service
By utilizing a single platform and request form, the RDRS provides a consistent and standardized format for handling nonpublic gTLD registration data requests. This simplifies the process for requestors by automatically identifying the correct registrar for a domain name and preventing the need to complete multiple forms with varying sets of required information managed by different registrars.

The service also provides a centralized platform where requestors can conveniently access pending and past requests. They also have the ability to create new requests, develop request templates, and cancel requests when needed.

Registrars can benefit from using the service as it provides a mechanism to manage and track all nonpublic data requests in a single location. Registrars can receive automated alerts anytime a request is submitted to them. The use of a standardized request form also makes it easier for the correct information and supporting documents to be provided to evaluate a request.

More Information and Resources
The RDRS was implemented at the direction of the ICANN Board to gather relevant usage data to help inform policy decisions related to a System for Standardized Access/Disclosure. The more registrars and requestors that use the RDRS, the more accurate and valuable the data collected will be toward making that decision.

For more information on the RDRS, including user guides, Frequently Asked Questions, instructional videos, and a flyer, visit https://www.icann.org/rdrs-en.

About ICANN
ICANN’s mission is to help ensure a stable, secure, and unified global Internet. To reach another person on the Internet, you need to type an address – a name or a number – into your computer or other device. That address must be unique so computers know where to find each other. ICANN helps coordinate and support these unique identifiers across the world. ICANN was formed in 1998 as a nonprofit public benefit corporation with a community of participants from all over the world.

Actinogen XanaCIDD Phase 2a trial in patients with depression and cognitive impairment: enrolment accelerating and on track for results in second quarter of 2024

0

US$3.2 million (A$4.8m) R&D tax incentive rebate received from Australian Tax Office and XanaMIA Phase 2b Alzheimer’s disease trial to commence shortly with initial results expected in first half of 2025

SYDNEY, Nov. 28, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Actinogen Medical Limited (ASX: ACW) announces that enrolment in the XanaCIDD Phase 2a proof-of-concept trial in 160 participants with cognitive impairment associated with persistent major depressive disorder (MDD) now exceeds 50 percent (that is, more than 80 participants enrolled to date). Results remain on track for release in the second quarter of 2024.

Highlights of XanaCIDD trial:

Double-blind, placebo-controlled randomized trial design 10mg Xanamem® daily dose versus placebo for six weeks (a common duration for Phase 2a trials in MDD) Participants have a history of persistent MDD despite previous treatment and objective cognitive impairment The primary endpoint for the trial is the computerized Cogstate "attention composite" test battery, measuring attention and working memory and shown previously to be a sensitive measure of Xanamem benefit in the XanaMIA Part A and XanaHES trials The key secondary endpoint for the trial is the MADRS structured interview evaluating MDD symptoms and is a fundamental endpoint used for regulatory approvals of anti-depressant medication Recruitment in the UK is now accelerating (previously site activation was impacted by industry-wide delays at the UK regulator) Recruitment in Australia is further accelerating due to enhanced screening and recruitment procedures.

US$3.2 million R&D tax incentive rebate received

Actinogen also announced today that it has received a research and development (R&D) tax incentive rebate of US$3.2 million (A$4.8 million) from the Australian Tax Office for the 2023 financial year.

The R&D tax incentive is an Australian federal government program under which companies receive cash refunds for eligible research and development expenditure.

Actinogen’s CEO Dr Steven Gourlay MBBS, PhD said:

"We are looking forward to sharing the results of the XanaCIDD trial in approximately six months’ time in the second quarter of 2024. This trial represents the first large scale test of whether lowering tissue cortisol in the brain can improve cognition and depression in patients with major depressive disorder (MDD). We are optimistic that Xanamem treatment will benefit patients, in part because the primary endpoint of the trial is the attention composite previously shown to be a sensitive measure of Xanamem effect."

"The receipt this year of a US$3.2 million Australian R&D tax incentive rebate represents a significant contribution by the Australian government towards our Phase 2 clinical-stage research exploring the potential benefits of Xanamem treatment for cognitive impairment associated with depression and Alzheimer’s disease."

XanaMIA Phase 2b Alzheimer’s disease trial site activation imminent and interim analysis on track for the first half of 2025

Clinical site startup activities continue at Australian sites for the XanaMIA Phase 2b Alzheimer’s disease trial. Patient recruitment is expected to commence before the end of the year. The trial will enrol 220 participants with mild to moderate Alzheimer’s disease and elevated blood pTau evenly randomized to treatment with 10mg of Xanamem or matching placebo daily for 36 weeks.

When approximately 100 patients reach 24 weeks of treatment, the Company will conduct an interim analysis and is expected to announce the results of that analysis in the first half of 2025.

Final results are anticipated in the second half of 2025.

About Actinogen Medical

Actinogen Medical (ACW) is an ASX-listed, biotechnology company developing a novel therapy for neurological and neuropsychiatric diseases associated with dysregulated brain cortisol. There is a strong association between cortisol and detrimental changes in the brain, affecting cognitive function, harm to brain cells and long-term cognitive health.

Cognitive function means how a person understands, remembers and thinks clearly. Cognitive functions include memory, attention, reasoning, awareness and decision-making.

Actinogen is currently developing its lead compound, Xanamem,® as a promising new therapy for Alzheimer’s Disease and Depression and hopes to study Fragile X Syndrome and other neurological and psychiatric diseases in the future. Reducing cortisol inside brain cells could have a positive impact in these and many other diseases. The cognitive dysfunction, behavioural abnormalities, and neuropsychological burden associated with these conditions is debilitating for patients, and there is a substantial unmet medical need for new and improved treatments.

Current and Upcoming Clinical Trials

The XanaCIDD Phase 2a depression trial is a double-blind, six-week proof-of-concept, placebo-controlled, parallel group design trial in 160 patients. Patients are evenly randomized to receive Xanamem 10 mg once daily or placebo, in some cases in addition to their existing antidepressant therapy, and effects on cognition and depression are assessed.

The XanaMIA Phase 2b Alzheimer’s disease trial is a double-blind, 36-week treatment, placebo-controlled, parallel group design trial in 220 patients with mild to moderate AD and progressive disease, determined by clinical criteria and confirmed by an elevated level of a pTau protein biomarker in blood. Patients receive Xanamem 10 mg or placebo, once daily, and effects on cognition, function and progression of Alzheimer’s disease are assessed. Thus, Xanamem is being assessed in this trial for its potential effects as both a cognitive enhancer and a disease course modifier.

About Xanamem

Xanamem’s novel mechanism of action is to block the production of cortisol inside cells through the inhibition of the 11β-HSD1 enzyme in the brain. Xanamem is designed to get into the brain after it is absorbed in the intestines upon swallowing.

Chronically elevated cortisol is associated with cognitive decline in Alzheimer’s Disease and excess cortisol is known to be toxic to brain cells. Cognitive impairment is also a feature in Depression and many other diseases. Cortisol itself is also associated with depressive symptoms and when targeted via other mechanisms has shown some promise in prior clinical trials.

The Company has studied 11β-HSD1 inhibition by Xanamem in more than 300 volunteers and patients, so far finding a statistically significant improvement in working memory and attention, compared with placebo, in healthy, older volunteers in two consecutive trials and clinically significant improvements in functional and cognitive ability in patients with biomarker-positive mild AD. Previously, high levels of target engagement in the brain with doses as low as 5 mg daily have been demonstrated in a human PET imaging study. A series of Phase 2 studies in multiple diseases is being conducted to further confirm and characterize Xanamem’s therapeutic potential.

Xanamem is an investigational product and is not approved for use outside of a clinical trial by the FDA or by any global regulatory authority. Xanamem® is a trademark of Actinogen Medical.

LILYSILK Partners with One Tree Planted for Thanksgiving Reforestation Initiative

NEW YORK, Nov. 28, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — LILYSILK, the world’s leading silk brand with a mission to inspire people to live spectacular, sustainable lives, is proud to announce its Thanksgiving Tree Planting Initiative, an endeavor aimed at showing gratitude to our planet. In collaboration with leading reforestation non-profit One Tree Planted, LILYSILK will plant 20,000 trees across regions worldwide heavily impacted by deforestation and wildfires.

This initiative follows LILYSILK’s successful reforestation project in Pontal do Paranapanema, São Paulo State, Brazil, where earlier this year, 500 hectares of land were rejuvenated through the planting of 15,000 trees. This year alone, LILYSILK has planted 35,000 trees, benefiting the environment and local communities worldwide.

LILYSILK Partners with One Tree Planted for Thanksgiving Reforestation Initiative

This reforestation project in Brazil has already had a significant positive impact. It has benefited 200 families, supported 280 jobs, and provided a habitat for 569 wildlife species. Additionally, the project has contributed to the restoration of 500 hectares of land and involved the active participation of 45 women, marking a significant step towards a more sustainable future for the local community.

LILYSILK’s commitment to environmental sustainability, however, extends beyond tree planting, with several other initiatives also in full swing:

Initially launched to mark World Environment Day 2023, LILYSILK’s Zero Waste Movement has seen the conversion of surplus materials into additional silk products, including approximately 8,000 eye masks and 6,000 protective masks. More than 1,200 products have been collected as part of the TerraCycle® Recycling Program since 2022. The company uses 100% biodegradable and recyclable packaging made from renewable resources, with boxes, bags, and envelopes designed to decompose quickly and harmlessly. They have also expanded their range of products certified to the stringent Global Organic Textile Standard, ensuring textiles are truly organic and ethically produced from field to finished garments.

"We are thrilled to once again partner with One Tree Planted to plant another 20,000 trees for the Earth, and this holds a special significance for us," said David Wang, LILYSILK, CEO. "At LILYSILK, our mission goes beyond just tree planting; it’s about motivating individuals to live better lives and embrace more sustainable lifestyles. Our dedication to both one another and the planet propels us forward."

LILYSILK’s commitment to environmental sustainability is evident in its actions, and the Thanksgiving Tree Planting Initiative is yet another testament to its ongoing efforts to create a more sustainable and greener future.

What is comedy about?

BEIJING, Nov. 28, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — A news report from China.org.cn on comic star’s understanding of comedy:

What is comedy about?

https://youtu.be/1zCb3_eG42Y

Comedy not only provokes laughter, but also should make you think, said Chen Peisi, one of China’s best-known comedians.

"Chinese audiences have lots of choices when it comes to shows that make you laugh," he says. "People need to laugh in this high-pressure social environment. Lots of small drama companies are popping up, and you can watch comedy performances nearly every day."

Chen, however, points out that only good comedies with sincere thoughts can make people laugh from their hearts. Plain jokes and rigid plots are not the true spirit of comedy, he says.

What shall people do to create a good comedy?

Chen Peisi believes that it is a serious business, and nice comedy requires good control of the tempo and countless trials, which is tough.
