E&R SiC Solution

KAOHSIUNG, Nov. 3, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Silicon Carbide (SiC) is pivotal in semiconductors, with E&R Technology committed to boosting process yields via vital SiC integration solutions. SiC surpasses silicon with high-temperature resilience, superior voltage tolerance, potent power capabilities, and minimal losses, making it ideal for automotive and 5G industries.

E&R SiC Solution

While SiC wafers mainly come in 4-inch and 6-inch sizes, efforts are ongoing to develop 8-inch and 12-inch wafers, despite process yield challenges. Tier 1 IDM manufacturers like ONSEMI, Infineon, and Bosch are announcing expansion and product plans for 2024-2025.

E&R collaborates with global industry leaders and suppliers, offering key SiC integration solutions:

Laser Annealing: E&R deploys ultra-short wavelength lasers with their self-developed accelerated optics solution (ACES) for precise and uniform shallow annealing.

Wafer ID Marking: With over 30 years of laser expertise, E&R employs a 355nm UV laser, designed for SiC, meeting precision and throughput demands. It works for 6-inch, 8-inch, and 12-inch wafers, both topside and backside.

Wafer Dicing and Grooving: E&R uses industry-leading Pico second and Femto second laser technologies for cutting and grooving, achieving a minimum cut width of 3um. Combined with mechanical breaking technology, their machines achieve an accuracy of ±1um, and successfully reduce wafer chipping and cracking while minimizing the heat-affected zone (HAZ) with recast thickness below 2um.

Raman Spectroscopy: In collaboration with world-leading wafer foundries, E&R introduces Raman spectroscopy technology. By illuminating wafers with laser light on their surface or within, they induce Raman scattering, allowing effective waveform analysis to obtain fundamental information about wafers like internal stress, lattice structure, cracks, and element concentrations. This technology enables customers to comprehensively assess and adjust process parameters, reducing losses due to various defects, ultimately improving process yield.

Plasma Treatment: E&R provides various plasma treatment technologies, including LF, RF, and microwave plasma sources. These ensure a highly uniform cleaning process for wafers before wire bonding and molding, resulting in high surface hydrophilicity and a water contact angle of less than 10 degrees. Additionally, E&R proposes a plasma decarbonization solution to reduce carbon layers, thereby strengthening the subsequent backside metallization process.

E&R will continue to collaborate with customers and explore possibilities to achieve more efficient manufacturing processes, contributing to the future development of the semiconductor industry.

During Nov.14th-17th, E&R will exhibit in Semicon Europa at Messe München. Please stop by Booth# B2378 to have fruitful discussion with E&R.

Understanding History and Culture – Fostering Cultural Identity

The YCYW’s Madam Tsang Chor-hang Heritage Museum stands as a testament to the importance of understanding history. It is dedicated to instilling this understanding in future generations by showcasing significant exhibits that represent nearly a century of YCYW’s legacy of educational excellence. Additionally, the museum houses selected cultural relics and materials spanning the Neolithic period to the Qing Dynasty. Through these exhibits, the museum aims to guide students in reflecting on history from both Chinese and global perspectives, fostering a deeper connection to their roots and a strong cultural identity.

A Global Gathering for a Purposeful Cause

On the same day, YCYW students and teachers from Yew Chung International School of Hong Kong attended the opening ceremony. Moreover, YCYW students and teachers from Shanghai, Beijing, Guangzhou, Chongqing, Qingdao, Yantai, and Tongxiang in the Chinese mainland gathered virtually to watch the live broadcast. They all witnessed how our school’s ethos has changed from glorifying China to cultivating global citizens and expanding global perspectives. We hope that our students will support and participate in the development of the global community and the well-being of humanity.

Maestro Wong On Yuen’s Erhu Performance

Professor Wong On Yuen, the world-renowned virtuoso, performed a classic erhu solo during the ceremony. His beautiful and melodious performance launched the museum’s journey to understand the past and the present.

Dr Betty Chan Po-king’s Vision

Dr Betty Chan Po-king, in her speech, fondly recollected the remarkable period in the 1930s when her mother, Madam Tsang Chor-hang, the founder of YCYW, established the first school. She further stressed the importance of understanding history in today’s context, especially for the younger generation.

Dr Chan said, "We must encourage our students to embark on a journey through time, to learn to appreciate the significance of the relics and comprehend the broader historical context they represent, whilst actively exploring and understanding YCYW’s history and our place in the world. Only by understanding and rediscovering our heritage, can we forge a vital connection to our roots and establish a strong cultural identity."

Dr Louis Ng Chi-wa, Museum Director of the Hong Kong Palace Museum, highlighted the increasing emphasis placed by the Chinese government and the public on preserving exceptional traditional history and culture in recent years. He said, "The Hong Kong Palace Museum and your museum (Madam Tsang Chor-hang Heritage Museum) are new to our museum community in the world. We opened last year, and your museum is open today, but we share the same vision. We are committed to promoting our shared history, heritage, and values, and to joining hands to build a better tomorrow for Hong Kong."

Mr Francis Li, Chairman of the Advisory Committee of Asia Art Hong Kong and curator of the Madam Tsang Chor-hang Heritage Museum, aspires to turn the Madam Tsang Chor-hang Heritage Museum into a history classroom for all.

He articulated that "The study of Chinese history is not only meaningful to the Chinese but also contributes to the people from the entire world who want to be engaged in cultural dialogues. Artefacts, in fact, provide tangible connections to ancient civilizations, offering insights into various aspects of Chinese heritage, including economic prosperity, daily life, artistic values, or even political systems. Exploring these artefacts, allows us to appreciate the cultural dialogues or exchange among the civilizations."

In her speech, Dr Chan also expressed her hope for the establishment of the heritage museum. She said, "Let us inspire our students to embrace the complexities of the past and be prepared to shape a more enlightened and harmonious future."

At the end of the ceremony, YCYW representatives and Mr Francis Li led guests into the historical museum. They highlighted the history of YCYW and the legacy of Madam Tsang Chor-hang and introduced the museum’s collection.

BEIJING, Nov. 3, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — The magnificent double-tailed bronze tiger, adorned with a perched bird, is the largest extant Pre-Qin bronze tiger and the only one of its kind among many bronze wares from the Shang and Zhou Dynasties. This artifact, unearthed alongside other cultural relics from the tombs of the Shang Dynasty in Dayangzhou Town, has debunked the notion that the south of the Yangtze River was a "barbarian hinterland" during the Shang and Zhou Dynasties and pushed the timeline of civilization in the southern Yangtze River back by over 1,700 years.

Verismo Therapeutics Announces Upcoming Presentation at SITC 2023

0

PHILADELPHIA, Nov. 3, 2023 /PRNewswire/ — Verismo Therapeutics, a clinical-stage CAR-T company developing novel KIR-CAR platform technology today announced that it will be presenting at the upcoming Society for Immunotherapy of Cancer 38th Annual Meeting (SITC 2023), to be held in San Diego and virtually November 1-5, 2023.

Presentation Details

Title: Preclinical potency assessment of SynKIR-110, a mesothelin-specific KIR-CAR T cell therapy for mesothelioma
Abstract Number: 321
Date and Time: Friday, November 3rd: 12:00-1:30 p.m. and 5:10-6:40 p.m.
Presenting Authors: Dr. Jun Xu, PhD & Dr. Laura Johnson, PhD
Description: We conducted in vivo potency studies to assess the impact of the engineered T cell dose of the first mesothelin (MSLN)-specific KIR-CAR T cell therapy (SynKIRTM-110) in an NSG mouse xenograft model of human mesothelioma. Our data demonstrate for the first time that anti-tumor efficacy of SynKIRTM-110 is dose-dependent with greater potency compared with MSLN-41BBz CAR T cells previously evaluated in the clinic. This enhanced potency of SynKIRTM-110 was observed both at the primary tumor site and metastatic sites as demonstrated by histopathologic analysis. This increased potency did not impact any serum markers of toxicity, which remained the same regardless of CAR/KIR-CAR treatments. This data supports further clinical development of SynKIRTM-110 in patients with advanced solid tumors. SynKIRTM-110 is currently being investigated in a Phase I clinical trial STAR-101 (NCT05568680).

About the KIR-CAR Platform
The KIR-CAR platform is a dual-chain CAR T cell therapy and has been shown in preclinical animal models to be capable of maintaining antitumor T cell activity even in challenging solid tumor environments. DAP12 acts as a novel costimulatory molecule for T cells using additional T cell stimulating pathways, further sustaining chimeric receptor expression and improving KIR-CAR T cell functional persistence. This continued T cell function and persistence can lead to ongoing regression of solid tumors in preclinical models, including those resistant to traditional CAR T cell therapies. The KIR-CAR platform is being investigated in combination with additional emerging technologies.

About Verismo Therapeutics
Verismo Therapeutics is a pioneer in dual-chain KIR-CAR technology, with its lead asset SynKIR™-110 undergoing first-in-human clinical trial. Verismo is the only company developing the KIR-CAR platform, a modified NK-like receptor designed to improve persistence and efficacy against aggressive solid tumors. The KIR-CAR platform technology was developed specifically for advanced solid tumors, an area of high unmet medical need. For more information, visit: www.verismotherapeutics.com
