Deputy Permanent Secretary Engages with Emergency Directors Group of the Inter-Agency Steering Committee (IASC)

On August 30, 2024, Deputy Permanent Secretary Paisal Rupanichkij discussed Myanmar’s humanitarian situation and Thailand’s 9 million baht aid contribution with the Emergency Directors Group of IASC.

On August 30, 2024, Mr. Paisal Rupanichkij, Deputy Permanent Secretary for Foreign Affairs, engaged with the Emergency Directors Group under the Inter-Agency Steering Committee (IASC). This meeting coincided with the group’s visit to Thailand and Myanmar from August 26-30. Attendees included key officials from various Thai departments focused on international relations.

The discussions centered on the humanitarian situation in Myanmar, where participants exchanged insights and strategies for providing much-needed assistance. The Deputy Permanent Secretary highlighted Thailand’s recent initiatives to aid Myanmar, particularly a significant financial contribution to the ASEAN Coordinating Centre.

Thailand contributed 9,000,000 baht (around 280,000 USD) to support humanitarian efforts, especially in remote regions facing challenges. This funding aims to facilitate the delivery of crucial assistance, aligning with the implementation of ASEAN’s Five-Point Consensus.
