Authorities seized five Shinbutr Tour buses for illegally having 11 gas tanks each, exceeding the legal limit. This follows a tragic accident that killed 23 people due to a gas leak.
Authorities seized five buses owned by Shinbutr Tour after finding they had 11 gas tanks each, exceeding the legal limit of six. This discovery follows a tragic incident where a school bus fire claimed 23 lives, prompting Transport Minister Suriya Jungrungreangkit to highlight the company’s failure to get the vehicles inspected as required.
During the investigation, officials tracked the buses to a garage in Nakhon Ratchasima, where workers were spotted removing the extra gas tanks. Charges will be filed against the company and those responsible for the illegal modifications. The Land Transport Department plans to inspect all CNG vehicles nationwide within 60 days.
In light of the recent fire, a joint committee will convene on October 25 to discuss improving transport safety measures. Committee member Nikorn Chamnong expressed optimism that the meeting would lead to significant enhancements in road safety, especially for students, while MP Chuan Leekpai emphasized the need for vigilance regarding safety regulations.
