Thailand’s Ministry of Digital Economy launched an initiative to enhance its digital content industry, focusing on e-sports and gaming, creating job opportunities, and establishing supportive regulations and infrastructure.
The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society (DE) in Thailand has launched a new initiative aimed at enhancing the country’s digital content sector, particularly e-sports and gaming. This initiative is part of a broader policy by the Digital Economy Promotion Agency (DEPA), designed to foster development and create career opportunities for the youth.
At a press conference, Deputy Prime Minister and DE Minister Prasert Chantararuangthong emphasized the critical role of e-sports and gaming in driving Thailand’s digital economy, which can lead to economic growth and job creation for young people. He believes that strategic investments can position Thailand as a leader in the digital arena.
DEPA is implementing a comprehensive plan to tackle challenges within the e-sports and gaming industries, focusing on skill development, infrastructure, and supportive regulations. Additionally, the Game Industry Promotion Act, set to be enacted in 2025, aims to establish guidelines for registering industry participants, thereby further supporting the sector’s growth.
