Thailand ranked third and Vietnam ninth in the Readers’ Choice Awards, highlighting their welcoming cultures, attractions, and cuisine, with Costa Rica named the friendliest country.
Thailand achieved third place in the annual Readers’ Choice Awards with a score of 94.37, while Vietnam ranked ninth with 90 points. Travelers ranked countries based on culture, cuisine, attractions, and overall experiences. The magazine highlighted Thailand’s welcoming culture, noting recent visa-free entry for 93 countries and the friendly interactions at Bangkok’s floating markets.
Vietnam also received praise for its hospitality, particularly in rural areas where locals offer homestays. The vibrant street food scene and the unique “sidewalk culture” contribute to a sense of community that enchants visitors.
This year, Thailand welcomed nearly 27 million foreign tourists, a 30% increase from the previous year, while Vietnam recorded 12.7 million international arrivals. The survey, which involved over 575,000 readers, recognizes excellence in travel experiences worldwide. Costa Rica and New Zealand topped the list as the friendliest countries.
