Thailand and Cambodia Enhance Cross-Border Cooperation

Thai Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul reaffirmed cooperation with Cambodia ahead of their 75th diplomatic anniversary in 2025, emphasizing cultural ties, trade, and law enforcement collaboration during a recent meeting.

Thai Deputy Prime Minister Anutin Charnvirakul has reiterated Thailand’s dedication to strengthening ties with Cambodia as both countries approach the 75th anniversary of their diplomatic relationship in 2025. He met with Cambodian Prime Minister Hun Manet in Phnom Penh on October 23, prior to the 8th Thailand-Cambodia Border Provinces Governors’ Meeting.

During their discussions, Anutin emphasized the cultural similarities between the two nations, viewing these as a foundation for enhancing cooperation that could significantly boost their economies and tourism sectors. He expressed optimism about expanding diplomatic, military, and economic connections.

Prime Minister Hun Manet welcomed Anutin’s visit and supported ongoing dialogues on law enforcement and cross-border crime prevention. Both leaders also highlighted the importance of cross-border trade, particularly regarding the development of the Nong Ian-Sung Bot border checkpoint, and looked forward to future collaborations.
