At WTM 2024, Thailand aims for 8 million European tourists next year, enhancing tourism through infrastructure improvements, streamlined visa processes, and new offerings, while focusing on sustainable and responsible travel.
The Tourism Authority of Thailand’s booth at the World Travel Market (WTM) 2024 showcases Thailand’s ambition to attract 8 million European tourists next year. The Tourism and Sports Ministry is enhancing collaborations with airlines and ambassadors to resume international flights fully. They aim for a record 11 million long-haul tourists in total.
Tourism Minister Sorawong Thienthong highlighted investments in infrastructure and a streamlined visa process to keep Thailand competitive. After WTM, meetings will be held with foreign ambassadors and airline representatives to discuss future flights and prepare for the high season in 2025. Collaborative subsidy programs are planned with other ministries.
Nithi Subhongsang of Nutty’s Adventures emphasized a focus on responsible tourism, targeting small European tour groups. Meanwhile, luxury outbound tour operator Best at Travel noted that Thailand’s appeal lies in its hospitality and affordability. Tourists are increasingly seeking less crowded destinations, prompting calls for better transportation and enhanced direct flights from the Thai government.
