BANGKOK: Heavy rainfall over three days has led to flooding in southern Thailand, resulting in one death and the displacement of over 2,700 people as of Thursday, November 28. A student in Narathiwat province was the sole fatality reported, according to local disaster officials.
The floods have severely impacted the region, prompting the suspension of 65 schools. Wasan Chaitaweewong, head of the local disaster prevention department, noted the challenges faced by the affected communities.
With ongoing rain expected, a warning remains in effect, predicting further precipitation across 70 percent of the province through early December, according to the Thai Meteorological Department.
