Two men were arrested after a bomb explosion at a festival in Tak province, Thailand, killed three and injured 48. The Karen National Union denied involvement in the incident.
Police in Tak province, Thailand, arrested two men following a deadly explosion at a festival near the Myanmar border, which killed three people and injured dozens. The blast occurred just before midnight when an improvised explosive device was thrown into a crowded dance floor, impacting around 8,000-9,000 attendees.
Authorities identified one suspect as a member of the Karen National Union (KNU), a rebel group in Myanmar, while the other was a Thai youth. However, a senior KNU official denied any group involvement and stated there were no members in the area.
Prime Minister Paetongtarn Shinawatra offered condolences to the victims’ families while urging a thorough investigation by security agencies. Forensic evidence indicated that the bomb was homemade, and local police reported prior altercations between rival groups before the explosion.
