UNDP and EU Leverage Youth and Media as ‘Change Makers’ to Promote Responsible Business Practices in Thailand

The UNDP and EU hosted a dialogue in Thailand, launching the “Agents of Change” project to empower youth and media in promoting corporate accountability and sustainability, funded by EUR 3 million.

On December 9, 2024, Bangkok hosted a pivotal dialogue entitled “Empowering Voices,” organized by the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and the European Union (EU). Key participants, including youth, media, and business representatives, convened to discuss the critical roles of these groups in enhancing corporate accountability and sustainability, emphasizing the essential need for collaboration in advancing responsible business practices in Thailand.

The event launched the Agents of Change project, funded by the EU with a budget of EUR 3,000,000. This initiative aims to empower youth and media to hold corporations accountable for their human rights and environmental impacts, aligning with Thailand’s commitments to the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights and the Second National Action Plan.

Niamh Collier-Smith, UNDP Resident Representative in Thailand, stressed the significance of including youth and media in corporate responsibility dialogues. She highlighted their roles in shaping inclusive practices, while Laure Brachet from the EU emphasized the union’s commitment to advancing global human rights and sustainable business practices through legal frameworks.
