Thailand’s King Endorses Paetongtarn Shinawatra as PM

Paetongtarn Shinawatra, Thailand’s youngest prime minister, pays respecyt to the King Vajiralongkorn after parliamentary endorsement, pledging to lead with an open heart amidst economic challenges and political turmoil.

Paetongtarn Shinawatra, dressed in official uniform, paid homage to King Vajiralongkorn after her endorsement as Thailand’s prime minister. Following a parliamentary vote, the king formally endorsed her, allowing her to proceed with forming a cabinet.

During the ceremony in Bangkok, the approval was announced by House Secretary Apat Sukhanand. In her speech, Paetongtarn expressed gratitude to the king and legislators, emphasizing her commitment to serve with an open heart and listen to diverse opinions.

At 37, Paetongtarn is Thailand’s youngest prime minister and the second woman to hold the office. She faces significant challenges, including a struggling economy and declining popularity for her Pheu Thai party.
