The Climate Care Forum 2023: Time to Reduce “Reduce-for-the World”

The Stock Exchange of Thailand (SET) and the Greenhouse Gas Management Organization (TGO) organized the Climate Care Forum 2023 to recognize the efforts of the Climate Care Platform’s alliances in their journey towards decarbonization. The event aims to inspire other organizations to change their behavior and effectively manage resources to reduce consumption. Highlights of the event included the presentation of certificates of honor to participants of TGO’s Low Emission Support Scheme (LESS) and a special talk on the climate crisis. The forum also emphasized the urgency of reducing emissions to achieve Thailand’s carbon neutrality goal by 2050 and net zero greenhouse gas emissions by 2065.

The Climate Care Platform: A Collaborative Effort

The SET President, Pakorn Peetathawatchai, highlighted that the business and social sectors understand the importance of addressing climate change. The Climate Care Platform, initiated in 2018, aims to reduce greenhouse gases in line with government policies and the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals. The Climate Care Forum serves as a platform for organizations to cooperate on environmental management and reduce wasted resources. Currently, the platform comprises three projects, with 669 member organizations, resulting in significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. The TGO Executive Director, Kiatchai Maitriwong, expressed support for SET’s Climate Care Platform and how it aligns with their greenhouse gas reduction goals. The forum concludes with a call for all sectors to seriously reduce unnecessary resource consumption.
