Thailand welcomes back Asian Physics Olympiad winners

BANGKOK, 14 May 2019 (NNT) – The Institute for the Promotion of Teaching Science and Technology (IPST) has given a warm welcome back to students from Thailand competing at the 20th Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) who have won back 6 awards, in a reception attended by students, teachers, and parents.

Thailand Team at the APhO this year,comprised of 8 students and teachers, has arrived back to Thailand yesterday evening after competing at the 20th Asian Physics Olympiad (APhO) held in Adelaide, Australia, from which Thai students have won 6 awards by Mr Yannapat Pinitpichitkul from Triam Udom Suksa School, Mr Titipat Chantrapirat from Bangkok Christian College, Mr Passakorn Potanan from Triam Udom Suksa School, Mr Pakorn Nanthaari from Triam Udom Suksa School, Mr Lapas Premcharoen from Kamnerdwit School, and Mr Sorawit Udompolchaicharoen from Mahidol Wittayanusorn School.

The team also include two other students, namely Mr Chulachak Jongpipattanakul from Suan Kularb Wittayalai School, and Mr Nop Termtrisana from Triam Udom Suksa School.

One of the award-winning students, Mr Pakorn Potanan, said he is glad and proud to bring fame to the country, adding that he has previously been training hard, and received much support from his teachers, friends, and family, that led him to this success.

160 students from 22 countries and administrative regions competed in this year APhO, with a student from Russia receiving the highest gross score, a student from China receiving highest score in theoretical examinations, and a student from Kazakhstan receiving the highest score from laboratory examinations.

The IPST will be selecting contestants from Thailand and provide theoretical and practical training to students who will be competing at the 2019 International Physics Olympiad in Israel this July
