KMITL presents COVID-19 innovations

BANGKOK (NNT) – King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang has developed innovations to cope with the COVID-19 pandemic, while aiming to build on their success after providing more than 800 items of technology to the Thai public health sector.

The GO FIGHT COVID-19 Center under the supervision of King Mongkut’s Institute of Technology Ladkrabang or KMITL, has presented new items of innovation against COVID-19 that include a Mini emergency respirator, a mobile negative and positive pressure room, an AI-operated screening system, and reusable PAPRs suits as well as the latest RAIBO-X.

According to KMITL, RAIBO-X is a smart robot that radiates UV-C light to disinfect medically used rooms. The UV-C effectively kills small organisms such as a virus, bacteria, fungus, and other germs.

It also helps decrease the risk of infection by using a robot instead of a human to clean a place used by infected individuals.

KMITL Chancellor Prof.Dr.Suchatvee Suwansawat, revealed that previously the university had already provided over 800 COVID-19 innovations to Thailand’s health sector. Besides Thailand, the Maldives and Myanmar also adopted the innovations to use in their countries, as the university-made technologies proved their effectiveness.

The chancellor added that all of the KMITL innovations were designed and produced by the institute’s professors and students in accordance with the policy to make Thailand self-sustainable, and needing to import less medical equipment.
