The Ministry of Digital Economy and Society in Thailand has reported a decline in “rogue” bank accounts and online crime complaints since the implementation of the 2023 cybercrime suppression and prevention act. The ministry aims to continue working with banks, the Royal Thai Police, and telecommunications service providers to prevent and suppress cybercrime. A committee, led by the Royal Thai Police Commissioner-General, has been appointed to combat cybercrime and ensure efficient action. Prevention measures include closing fraudulent accounts, enforcing laws against illegal SIM card use, and monitoring suspicious financial transactions. The committee will also focus on preventing the illegal use of Thai telephone and internet signals along the border. The public is advised to be cautious of scams and report any online criminal activity.
