Thailand’s FDA has released guidelines for travelers importing personal health products, outlining requirements for acceptable products, labeling, and quantity limits to ensure compliance with regulations.

Importing Personal Health Products to Thailand

The Thailand Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has released new guidelines for travelers importing personal health products into the country. These guidelines aim to ensure the safety and quality of health products brought into Thailand for personal use. The regulations apply to all travelers, including tourists, expats, and Thai citizens returning from abroad.

Compliance Requirements for Travelers

Travelers must comply with the guidelines to avoid issues with customs and the FDA. The regulations apply to health products such as supplements, vitamins, and cosmetics. Travelers are advised to declare these products at customs and provide documentation, including product labels and ingredient lists. Failure to comply may result in penalties, fines, or even confiscation of the products.

The guidelines, which came into effect on April 1, 2022, aim to regulate the importation of personal health products, including supplements, vitamins, and cosmetics, for personal use. Travelers are allowed to bring in these products without prior permission, but they must comply with certain requirements. First, the products must be for personal use only, and the quantity must not exceed a 12-month supply. Second, the products must be properly labeled and packaged, with clear markings and instructions in Thai or English. Third, travelers must declare the products at customs and provide proof of purchase or a receipt. Finally, the products must comply with Thai standards and regulations, and certain products, such as those containing controlled substances, are prohibited or restricted. Travelers who fail to comply with these guidelines may face fines, penalties, or even confiscation of the products.
