Bangkok, 6 September 2019 – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) continues to embark on its ongoing responsible tourism strategy by inviting Mr. Palitchoke Aryanabutr (Peck Palitchoke), one of the most popular Thai entertainers and stars as a presenter for the ‘Thailand Reduce Waste” campaign, as part of the plan to help reduce tourism-related waste by up to 50 per cent by 2020.
TAT Governor, Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn, said: “Under the Thai government’s 20-year National Strategy (2018-2037), which is in line with the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), TAT is committed to work with all stakeholders towards sustainable tourism development.”
The “Thailand Reduce Waste” campaign is designed to help create awareness of the role tourists can play in waste management and environmental preservation. It falls within the TAT’s strategy to strengthen the focus on sustainability at tourism destinations nationwide and ensure the upkeep of Thai tourism products.
“TAT has been working on various initiatives with the aim to instil a sense of environmental consciousness and encourage tourists to travel responsibly by leaving only footprints and taking only good memories,” Mr. Yuthasak said.
Mr. Peck Palitchoke is helping to inspire responsible tourism through six vlogs under the “Thailand Reduce Waste” campaign. Filming at Thai beaches across the country, Peck and his fans and followers took part in beach clean-up activities whilst helping to instil a sense of travel responsibly.
The vlogs are to be broadcast online on TAT’s Facebook and Twitter accounts (Amazing Thailand and TAT CG & CSR). In addition, Peck also starred in the TAT’s one-minute online commercial on the “Thailand Reduce Waste” campaign.
