The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) held the ‘Amazing Thailand Summer Kick Off Party’ in Bangkok on 9 June 2023. The event aimed to inform the New York media about Thailand’s tourism situation, its ‘Visit Thailand Year 2023: Amazing New Chapters’ advertising campaign and the country’s focus on meaningful travel experiences. The event followed the ‘Amazing Thailand Festival 2023,’ which took place on 3-4 June 2023 at Lower Manhattan’s Oculus Plaza. The party included a briefing on Thailand’s tourism direction, a networking opportunity and a showcase of the country’s various high value and sustainable travel experiences, such as cultural performances, Thai art and craft making activities, and a panel discussion on Thailand’s travel experiences presented by New York-based influencers. TAT is dedicated to highlighting travel experiences for different market demographics, such as luxury, sustainable, romance, and LGBTQ+, from the USA. The initiatives to be introduced include joint marketing promotions with strategic partners and brand communications through American film and TV productions in Thailand. From 1 January to 18 May 2023, Thailand welcomed 344,000 visitors from the USA, and TAT forecasts that the number will reach around one million for the whole year, close to the pre-pandemic level of 1.16 million in 2019. The number is expected to grow to 1.5 million in 2024, as the tourism industry is anticipated to continue rebounding.
