The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) is collaborating with the State Railway of Thailand (SRT) to launch a trial train service from Vientiane, Laos to Bangkok, aimed at encouraging more tourist arrivals from Laos. The train, which will operate on a daily basis, will cover a distance of approximately 760 kilometers and take around 10 hours to complete. The trial service will run for three months, starting from March 2023, with plans to extend it further if it proves successful. The train will have three classes of service – first, second, and third class – with tickets priced affordably to cater to different budgets. The move is expected to boost tourism between the two countries, promoting cultural exchange and strengthening economic ties. The train will pass through several scenic routes, offering passengers a glimpse into the rich history and natural beauty of both countries.
