Thailand prepares for an anticipated surge of Korean tourists, following the relaxation of COVID-19 travel restrictions, with airlines and travel agencies offering special promotions and packages.

Thailand Prepares for Korean Tourist Boom

Thailand is gearing up to welcome a significant influx of Korean visitors, driven by the growing popularity of Korean culture and the country’s strategic location in Southeast Asia. The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has reported a surge in Korean tourists, with numbers reaching over 1.8 million in 2022, representing a 15% increase from the previous year.

Enhanced Tourism Infrastructure and Services

To cater to the rising demand, Thailand is investing in tourism infrastructure and services. The country is upgrading its airports, improving transportation networks, and enhancing its hospitality sector to provide a seamless experience for Korean visitors. With its rich cultural heritage, delicious cuisine, and beautiful landscapes, Thailand is poised to become a top destination for Korean tourists, further strengthening bilateral tourism ties between the two nations.

The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has launched a targeted marketing campaign to attract more Korean visitors, following the surge in popularity of K-dramas and K-pop in the country. The campaign, which includes online promotions, event hosting, and collaborations with Korean influencers, aims to capitalize on the growing interest in Korean culture. Thailand’s rich cultural heritage, delicious cuisine, and beautiful beaches are expected to be major draws for Korean tourists. To cater to this influx, many Thai hotels, resorts, and restaurants are now offering Korean-language services and menus featuring Korean dishes. Meanwhile, the TAT is also working with Korean airlines to increase direct flights to Thailand, making it more convenient for travelers to plan their trip. With its strategy in place, Thailand is confident of achieving its goal of attracting 1.5 million Korean visitors in 2023, a significant increase from the 1.2 million recorded in 2022.
